01What we collect

We collect only what the app needs to work:

Location

With your permission, we read your device’s GPS location to find restaurants near you. If you decline, you can type in an address instead — the app never guesses your location silently.

Advertising identifiers

The app shows ads through Google AdMob. AdMob’s software collects your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, Advertising ID on Android) and related signals to select and measure ads. We don’t collect this ourselves — it’s collected by AdMob’s SDK, which is built into the app.

Crash and error diagnostics

When something goes wrong, we automatically send a crash or error report to Sentry, our crash-reporting service. This can include your device model, OS version, the error itself, and your IP address. We use this only to find and fix bugs.

This is on by default, but it’s entirely your choice: open Options in the app and switch off “Share crash reports” at any time. Turning it off takes effect immediately — no further crash or error data is sent from your device until you turn it back on.

Preferences you set in the app

Your search radius, cuisine filters, minimum rating, favorited restaurants, and spin history are all saved only on your device. We never see this data and it’s never sent to us or anyone else — it’s deleted automatically if you uninstall the app.

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, or messages — the app has no account or sign-in system at all.

02How we use it

• Location is sent to Google’s Places API in real time, purely to return nearby restaurants for that one search. We do not store your location history ourselves.
• Advertising identifiers are used by AdMob to serve and measure ads within the app.
• Crash and error data is used to diagnose and fix problems in the app, only while the “Share crash reports” toggle in Options is on.
• On-device preferences are used only to run the app the way you’ve configured it.

03Who it’s shared with

We share data only with the service providers that make the app work, listed here in full:

• Google (Places API) — receives your search location and filter criteria (cuisine, price, radius) to return restaurant results. Governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
• Google AdMob — receives advertising identifiers to show ads. Governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
• Sentry — receives crash and error diagnostics, when enabled. Governed by Sentry’s Privacy Policy.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone for their own independent marketing purposes.

04Retention & deletion

We don’t operate a server or database of our own, so most of what the app uses is either transient (your location, used for one search and not stored by us) or lives entirely on your device (filters, favorites, history) — uninstalling the app deletes that instantly.

The one place data persists under our control is crash diagnostics held in our Sentry account, and only when crash reporting is turned on. You can ask us to delete any diagnostic data tied to your reports at any time — see Contact below.

05Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have specific legal rights over your data:

To exercise any of these rights, email us — see Contact. Since the app has no accounts, we’ll work with you to identify which records are yours (for example, by the approximate time and description of a crash you experienced).

06Security

Every network request this app makes — to Google Places, to AdMob, and to Sentry — is sent over HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit. No data leaves your device over an unencrypted connection.

07Ads, crash reports & your choices

This app is free to download and is supported by ads served through Google AdMob. You can limit ad personalization at any time through your device settings:

• iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, or Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising
• Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads, where you can reset or opt out of your Advertising ID

We also offer (or plan to offer) an optional one-time in-app purchase to remove ads. That purchase is processed entirely by Apple’s or Google’s own payment systems — we never receive or store your payment or card information.

You can also opt out of crash reporting entirely, independent of your ad settings: open Options in the app and switch off “Share crash reports”. It’s on by default to help us catch bugs, but the choice is always yours and takes effect immediately.

08Children’s privacy

The Wheel of Lunch is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we’ll remove it.

09Changes to this policy

If we change how the app collects or shares data, we’ll update the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to check back periodically.
